THE AMERICAN PSYCHE.

A slime bucket former presidential candidate named John Edwards once suggested there were “two Americas”. He meant the usual Democratic BS about the 1 percenters and the rest of us unwashed enslaved masses. He was right about there being two Americas, however. But it’s not rich vs poor or Black vs White or male vs female or straight vs gay. It’s much more dire. It’s rational beings vs fools who react on emotion. In proof of my argument, I offer Donald Trump.

Many people remember Howard Beale’s unforgettable speech in the movie “Network”—“we’re mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore.” I pluralized it because I believe it reflects the way a lot of Americans feel about their government. Yes, we are mad as hell about the endless lies and the endless incompetence that have been spilling out of the Beltway seemingly for decades. The half of America that reacts emotionally by thoughtlessly accepting the demagoguery of a narcissistic, sociopathic, spoiled little rich kid (yes, Trump’s father was a multimillionaire builder/developer in New York City who guaranteed Donald’s loans and used his own influence in the corrupt politics of NYC to get his boy off to a successful start).

The other half of America uses rational thought processes to search through the pronouncements of all of the candidates (not including Democrats; they haven’t had any rational ideas since Noah started preparing for the next storm). Angry? Sure we’re angry. But nominating a crude, loudmouthed momma’s boy for the presidency isn’t rational. He lacks the ability to articulate real policy (“I’ll build a wall and the Mexicans will pay for it!” “I’ll throw 11 million people out of the country then let them back in.”); and as incompetent and corrupt as she is, Hillary will eat him alive. If the virtually impossible should happen and Trump actually becomes president, the word “corruption” will take on a whole new meaning. Worse yet, America will crumble as a world power. We all want America to be great again, but throwing insults and empty threats at Putin, the Chinese, ISIS, North Korea, and the myriad other bad guys instead of bullets and missiles is a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

Members of the intellectually crippled half of America that harbors a visceral belief that Trump is your savior need to do something you haven’t done in a long time, maybe ever—think.
